At MedHealth Clinic, we provide Driver’s Medical Exams for patients who need to confirm they are medically fit to drive under provincial requirements.
Driver’s medical exams are an uninsured service, meaning they are generally paid for by the patient or the employer. Patients should bring any required forms, their driver’s licence, a list of current medications, glasses or contact lenses if used, and any relevant medical history.
To book your Driver’s Medical Exam, contact MedHealth Clinic and our front desk team will help schedule your appointment.
Who needs a Driver’s Medical Exam?
- Commercial Drivers
- Patients with a Class 1, 2, or 4 licence, or those with a Condition Code “C”, may be required to complete periodic driver’s medical exams. The frequency of the exam may depend on provincial requirements or the physician’s clinical assessment. In some cases, employers may cover the cost of the medical.
- Seniors
- Patients aged 75 and older may be required to complete a driver’s medical every few years to ensure they can continue driving safely. Coverage may vary depending on provincial rules and patient eligibility.
- Patients with Medical Conditions
- Certain health conditions may require a driver’s medical to confirm that it is safe for the patient to drive. This may include conditions such as diabetes, vision concerns, neurological conditions, cardiovascular concerns, or other health issues that could affect driving safety.
