This document lists phone numbers and agencies for Emergency Assistance (24 Hour Crisis Services, Support Services, Shelters) and Basic Needs (Clothing/Household Goods, Financial Assistance & Food Hampers, and Housing).
Support Network Distress Line & Crisis Response Team
Distress Line
The 24-hours Distress Line is available 7 days a week
The Distress Line provides confidential, non-judgmental and short-term crisis intervention, emotional support and resources to people in crisis or distress. They also support family, friends and caregivers of people in crisis.Phone: 780-482-HELP (4357)For urgent help there is also the Crisis Response Team. Call 780-342-7777. Do not hesitate to go to your closest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
AB Health Services 24/7 Access line & Crisis Response Team
Provides a single point of access to adult addiction and mental health community-based programs. Access 24 / 7 provides a range of urgent and non-urgent addiction and mental health services including service navigation, screening, assessment, referral, consultation, crisis intervention, outreach and short-term stabilization. Children Mental Health CRISIS Line (Mobile Response Team)
The Crisis Team offers immediate crisis support through the Crisis Line to children / youth, aged 5-17, and their care providers. Phone: 780-427-4491
Kids Help Phone (24/7 for those ages 5 – 20 yrs)
Provides 24/7 free confidential professional online and telephone counselling and volunteer-led, text-based support in English and French to youth across Canada. Kids Help Phone also provides information on how to access community support services for youth.Phone: 1-800-668-6868

Non Insured Health Benefits
The Non Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program’s mental health counselling benefit is intended to provide coverage for professional mental health counselling to complement other mental wellness services that may be available to clients or in communities. To set up an appointment, you will need to call the offices and advise them you have treaty status. Have your treaty number and band name available.

The Hope for Wellness Line provides 24/7 telephone support which provides immediate support to Indigenous people that is culturally competent for young people and adults experiencing distress. Help Line calls will be answered by experienced crisis intervention counselors, and service will be available in English and French. Callers may also ask about the availability of service in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut.
